Sometimes, just sometimes, amid all the drudge and toil, life throws one a joyous curveball. This has just happened to me in the form of a video clip of the current Gauteng MEC for health, Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko, visiting Helen Joseph Hospital in January this year.
I chanced upon it when I was looking for images to illustrate Phakamisa Mayaba’s excellent feature on Aaron Motsoaledi and his response to the health ombud report on Helen Joseph Hospital.
The Gauteng Department of Health maintains an active instagram account, including video clips, many of which feature Nkomo-Ralehoko. I encourage readers to visit it.
While I’m in no position to comment on her formal performance as MEC for Health, I have to say that I’ve warmed to her immensely. She’s out there, and she’s trying.
I spent three weeks in Helen Joseph Hospital for spine surgery last year. It should keep her very busy.
